Charlotte von der Lancken studied industrial design at the Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. In 2004, she and three partners founded what is probably one of the most successful avant-garde design studios in the world: Front Design. Many of her designs, including designs for brands such as Kartell, Axor Hansgrohe, Moroso, Tom Dixon, IKEA and Moooi, are already regarded as classics. Having been awarded several design prizes, she has now formed her own label – CVDLAB and works for renowned manufacturers. Her methods are inventive and experimental, she plays with visual effects and aim to make you look twice on what you see. She finds inspiration in the unexpected and the familiar, the new technology versus traditional craftship.
As industrial designer, her work is never determined by specified materials. The result is designs with blurred boundaries between interior design and art and thus have her fingers on the pulse of the age.
