Kristinebergs Slottspark 2013
The assignment was to create entrances to a Stockholm city park. The artistic design process was developed in close discussion with both landscape architects, Nivå and the client. It was divided into two assignments, where the design group Front (Sofia Lagerkvist, Charlotte von der Lancken, and Anna Lindgren) were given the challenge to mark the various entrance points of the castle park. This was a demanding task because the park at the entrances signifies playfulness, life, and movement, but also contains more subdued, poetic spaces within. We chose to work with the street lamp as the starting point. The classic model with a globe on a standard base, which is easy to maintain. All fixtures remained standard, but the shape underwent artistic modification. The base was curved, and the globe was transformed into a white, wobbly bubble. This allowed them to stand out while simultaneously signaling the fairy-tale-like atmosphere of the park.
