Sketch Furniture 2005

Can a rough initial sketch transform into a tangible object, allowing designers to directly shape space? FRONT members pioneered in 2005 a technique to bring freehand sketches to life. They achieve this by merging two sophisticated methods: capturing pen strokes in the air using Motion Capture technology and converting them into 3D digital files, which are then fabricated into actual furniture pieces using additive manufacturing technique.

In the motion capture studio, where we draw all the pieces. The cameras track our pens and make the strokes into 3d-files.
